It’s time for children to discover how Hilary Duff met her spouse in the new How I Met Your Mother sequel series How I Met Your Father. The new comedy is not a reboot or revival of the beloved CBS series, but it does take place in the same universe. This time, Duff portrays 30-year-old photographer Sophie in New York City looking for love and telling her kids the entire sordid tale.

Kim Cattrall plays the future version of Sophie, while Francia Raisa, Chris Lowell, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Suraj Sharma play her friends. Of course, one of 2022’s most anticipated new programs is the Duff-fronted comedy.

But, where can Hilary Duff fans and How I Met Your Mother fans alike go to see How I Met Your Father? Although the program isn’t available to stream on Netflix due to licensing restrictions, we’ll share all you need to know about watching below!

Where to watch How I Met Your Father

The 10-episode season of How I Met Your Father will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 18 on Hulu, consisting of the first two episodes. The full season will be available for streaming every Tuesday on Hulu after that.

HBO, Amazon, and CBS have all announced their own streaming services. Other streaming services will follow suit. It’s unlikely that How I Met Your Father will ever be available on Netflix, and it’s doubtful that the sire series will return to the service after years of absence. Hulu, which is currently owned by Disney, is expected to keep The 20th Century Fox-produced program where it is.

Given that the series is being marketed as a “standalone sequel,” we shouldn’t expect to see any appearances from Ted, Marshall, Lily, Robin, or Barney. HIMYM fans should keep their eyes open for Easter eggs and allusions to the original series, although no Ted cameo is expected. Fingers crossed for some cameos in the future!
